The Problem With… Train’s “Drive By” – Dallas Music – DC9 At Night.

This is one of my longer reviews. When I remembered that Train’s “Hey Soul Sister” was in commercials targeting women, I went into adbusting mode.
Vinnie Paul and HELLYEAH! Find Their Rhythm – Page 1 – Music – Dallas – Dallas Observer.
This article ended up in print for the April 30 edition. I’m really proud of this accomplishment. I only wish that I could have gotten more character quotes like the “a whole ‘nother” line. I’ve been getting positive feedback for that line.
It was a great experience talking to a bona fide area rockstar. I think Vinnie Paul is a pretty cool guy. Between owning chains of bars, producing and owning a label, and playing in band, this guy has it made. And the house setup for the album recording sounds really cool. I wish I could do that in my house.
I had purchased a digital recorder and a nifty earbud with a microphone facing out –so you can record phone conversations– specifically for this interview. It turned out to be a great tool that I will keep in my journalism kit. Luckily, Texas is a state that allows one-party telephone recording consent.
Over The Weekend: Acid Mothers Temple and O.G.O.D. at The Loft – Dallas Music – DC9 At Night.
Seeing Acid Mothers Temple was a great experience. I actually went in with jeans and a tie-dye shirt. Oddly, I was the only one. Another assumption I made was that I would see a bunch of white Japanophiles among the audience in Anime otaku flair. I just saw one guy in a Merzbow shirt. Would that count as Weaboo?
Hearing psychedelic rock and Central-Asian throat singing blew my mind.
