Mindqila is a play on the iconic affirmation phrase from the Dune book series “Fear Is the Mind Killer”. Qila, pronounced KIL-UH, is an Urdu word meaning fortress. This site is essentially a center for my works and ideas. I aim to be a writer and/or a journalist on the topic of communication technologies, media and global issues.
When people ask where I’m from, I feel have to give my life story so people aren’t left confused. I am an American of Pakistani descent. I was born in Madison, WI. I lived most of my life in the Twin Cities area. I lived my formative years in Central Florida. I received a Bachelor’s in Communication and Culture Studies at Michigan Technological University and am now living in Texas pursuing a Master’s in Journalism at UNT’s Mayborn School of Journalism.
